Detection of ESBL Production in Clinical Isolates of E. coli from Patients
The study revealed a high prevalence of Extended Spectrum β-Lactamase (ESBL)-producing E. coli in the hospital, with the majority of cases detected in urine samples.
Notably, Imipenem emerged as the only antibiotic effective against all isolates, highlighting its critical importance in treatment. These findings underscore the need for regular ESBL detection, responsible antibiotic stewardship, and rigorous infection control measures to combat resistance and protect patient health.
