Hydatid Cyst in the Spleen – A Rare Presentation
This case highlights the rarity of splenic hydatid cysts and their accidental detection following blunt abdominal trauma. The rupture of the cyst led to an anaphylactic reaction, initially misdiagnosed as a drug reaction.
Splenectomy remains the standard treatment, complemented by post-operative albendazole therapy. Early diagnosis and awareness of such atypical presentations are crucial for effective management.
