5 Health Check-ups Every Women Needs

Every woman should set aside time each day for healthy routines like regular exercise, stress reduction, and nutritional concerns, and one major thing that is important in all this is a health check-up.

We recommend the top five health check-ups that every woman should have on a regular basis. 

1. Pap Smear Examination 

Pap smear is a painless gynaecological pelvic examination and age criteria is between 21-65 years. They insert a tool called a speculum into the vagina so that they can examine the cervix. Then, they take a sample of cervical cells using a spatula or brush and send them to laboratory. 

A PAP Smear Liquid Based Cytology (LBC) helps your doctor examine the cells of your cervix to understand the risk of cervical cancer, a form of cancer that is highly treatable when detected early.

2. Mammogram 

A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast. The patient's breast is pressed by two plates as part of the test for allowing for x-ray imaging. Breast cancer is a very common type of cancer in India, with women as young as 30 suffering from it. Mammograms are used by doctors to look for breast cancer's early symptoms.

When it is least difficult to treat and before the tumour becomes large enough. Regular check-up of mammograms can reduce the risk of breast cancer-related death. The best test available for women to detect breast cancer early, often up to three years before it can be felt, is a routine mammogram.                 


3. Thyroid Function Test

T3 (Triiodothyronine) and T4 (Thyroxine) hormones are produced by the thyroid gland and help regulate metabolism in the body. When your hormone levels fall (hypothyroidism), your body's metabolism and functions slow down automatically. Then symptoms occur, including fatigue, dry skin, and weight gain, amongst many other symptoms.

An increase in hormone levels will result in hyperthyroidism, irregular heartbeats, anxiety, weight loss, sleepless nights, and other symptoms. Thyroid hormonal imbalance occurs more often in females as compared to males.       


4. Blood Pressures: 

Ailments like hypertension can be detected by your blood pressure, which is a significant indicator particularly in women for menopause, pregnancy problems, stress, and other hormonal and lifestyle factors can increase the risk of heart disease.

A blood pressure check can help in the early detection and management of heart disease. People with normal blood pressure should have yearly exams. Your doctor will advise more regular testing if the reading on your blood pressure is abnormally high or low.

Additionally, if you have diabetes, a heart illness, kidney issues, or any other medical conditions, you might require additional tests.                                                     

5. Body Mass Index

Women's BMI measurement is an important part of a health check-up because knowing your body mass index affects your lifestyle and alerts you to potential problems such as obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.

The body mass index (BMI) is a measure that uses your height and weight to determine if you are overweight or obese. The BMI calculation divides an adult's weight in kilograms by their height in meters squared.

However, it should be noted that the BMI does not directly measure body fatness, as other factors such as muscle mass and frame size can also affect an individual's BMI score.
